Webinar | Intro to Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud for Legacy Java App Migration

Overview

The purpose of this workshop is to show Java developers how to set up OpenShift on IBM Cloud to migrate their legacy applications. We will discuss how to provision instances of OpenShift and set up all the required infrastructure to host new applications including networking, service mesh, storage, and IAM considerations. The labs will cover how to setup OpenShift projects and leverage services to host your legacy Java application code. At the end of the labs, a Java developer will be able to successfully configure and deploy “Hello World” Java applications on OpenShift.

This hands-on workshop include:

  • What is OpenShift?

  • Why OpenShift over open source and public cloud solutions?

  • How does OpenShift work on IBM Cloud?

  • Installing OpenShift

  • Creating OpenShift Projects

  • Setting up all required networking, storage, and identity management

  • Selecting software development runtimes in containers

  • Implementing basic container and orchestration security for legacy apps

About the Presenter
